What's Her Story?
An Oregon and Washington native recently returned to the Pacific Northwest after spending the last seventeen years in New York and San Francisco, Sarah began writing for the stage in her final year of an MFA in Acting at the University of Minnesota. After meeting the creative team at Dramahaus in New York, she produced her first full Equity production of her play HER MAJESTY THE KING at HERE in Soho, thus marking the beginning of a career on both sides of the proverbial "table," Acting, Writing, Producing, Casting, and Teaching.
During the production of this first play Sarah landed a Creative Services position at Saatchi & Saatchi NYC where she specialized in producing voice overs for radio commercials and managed the creative team for the Toyota Group. Over the years she's had various other producing roles in corporate marketing departments. She also spent four years as a Casting Director at Nancy Hayes Casting in San Francisco where she cast many independent films, shorts, and commercials, national and otherwise. She has certificates from The Berkeley Digital Film Institute in Producing and Directing and the Bay Area Video Coalition in Producing and Editing, in addition to an MFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theatre and a BA in Theatre Arts from Western Washington University.
Sarah has taught everything from Acting for Majors at the University of Minnesota, to story structure and playwriting for sixth graders in the Bronx public schools. (See Teaching Page) Her plays include HER MAJESTY THE KING, AFTERGLOW, SHE'S HOT, THE STILL HUNT, and LITTLE GUN. (See Writing Page)
